‘American Pickers’ Danielle Colby Reveals Major Surgery & ‘Difficult’ Healing Journey
American Pickers star Danielle Colby revealed a major surgery and “difficult” healing journey alongside a burlesque photo of herself and a close friend.
On Wednesday, Nov. 12, the History Channel star, 49, took to Instagram with a snapshot of herself rocking a red feather boa, black high-heeled shoes, cheetah ears and little else while posing next to her pal and fellow burlesque performer.
“I know you’ve all heard me talk about my friend @y.ulietta,” Colby began the update. “We’ve developed such a strong, loving bond over the last decade working together. We’ve had so many incredible adventures traveling, touring, performing, creating, eating, smoking, loving, hugging, all of it! “
She continued, “But what really sticks out in my mind is what a wonderful friend you were to me after my hysterectomy. I had been away from the island for seven months healing, people were going through a particularly stressful and difficult time on the island in Puerto Rico. There was a heaviness, a sadness to things. I felt that deeply the entire year after my hysterectomy and my friend Yuli was there by my side or on the phone, but always there, always present.”
In the post, Colby said she was “extremely thankful” for that period of time in her life, “because it taught me so much about my body‘s ability to recover, even in the most difficult of circumstances and my heart’s ability to heal.” She explained, “Through all of it, I relied on my friends and my family and my loved ones. They all shouldered a very heavy load while my body and my brain and my heart were healing.”

Colby performs burlesque under the stage name Dannie Diesel. Earlier this year, she opened the Ecdysiast Arts Museum in Davenport, Iowa, dedicated to the history of stripping.
