American Pickers’ Danielle Colby Reveals She Will Undergo Major Surgery: “I Get to Feel Relief After Three Years of Pain”
As fans continue to follow the lives of their favorite American Pickers stars, Danielle Colby has shared a deeply personal update about her health. The 46-year-old reality TV personality revealed that she will soon undergo a hysterectomy, a major surgery that has been weighing heavily on her mind.
A Painful Diagnosis After Years of Suffering
Danielle opened up on Patreon, explaining that she has been diagnosed with uterine fibroids—noncancerous muscle-based growths that develop in the uterus. While benign, they can cause severe discomfort.
According to reports, fibroids can:
-
enlarge the stomach area
-
put pressure on surrounding organs
-
increase pelvic pain
-
cause constipation
-
lead to frequent urination
For Danielle, the condition has caused significant menstrual pain and exhaustion for years.
Preparing for Surgery—And Managing the Stress
The star explained that her hysterectomy is scheduled for Tuesday and she is trying to stay calm, despite the anxiety of an upcoming major medical procedure.
“I only have so much control,” Danielle shared. “I’m taking my medications, eating healthfully, getting 20 minutes of gentle exercise three times a day, and thinking optimistically. But that doesn’t mean my worries magically disappear.”
Even so, Danielle is determined to keep a positive mindset. She is reframing her outlook—not as having to undergo surgery, but getting to undergo it.
Finding Strength in Positivity
To stay grounded, she practices a form of mental reframing:
“Instead of focusing on needing the procedure,” she wrote, “I imagine myself getting to have it.
I get to feel relief from the ache I’ve had for three years.
I get to imagine a future where I can do anything without worrying about taking a break for a week every month.”
Although she admits she still experiences fear, the possibility of finally living without chronic pain motivates her.
A Private Struggle Made Public
For a long time, Danielle kept her condition secret. Only recently did she open up in a lengthy Patreon post, explaining that she had endured severe menstrual discomfort that she originally dismissed as normal.
Her doctor later informed her the situation was serious and required prompt surgical intervention.
Looking Forward With Hope
Despite the challenges, Danielle is focusing on the life she will gain after recovery—a future without constant pain, limitations, or monthly interruptions.
“I get to look forward to a lifetime of exciting activities without anything standing in my way,” she wrote.
Fans have sent an outpouring of love and support as she prepares for this important step in her healing journey.
