'American Pickers' Danielle Colby Reveals 'Biggest Lesson' Mike Wolfe Taught Her After Show Exit
American Pickers star Danielle Colby revealed the “biggest lesson” Mike Wolfe taught her after she claimed the History Channel was “done.”
On Dec. 5, Colby, 50, took to Instagram with a lengthy video as she reflected on embarking on a new era during a car ride with her husband, Jeremy Scheuch.
“That biggest lesson was taught to me probably through Mike through the years because we had to have moments of conflict,” she confessed in the video. “We are as close as family. Our families are tied together. When you’re that close, you have moments of conflict, right?”
Colby continued, “One of my favorite takeaways from the last 18 years of working with Mike specifically, but then also working with production, is understanding how to communicate with people without completely shutting down relationships, conversations, discussions, futures. I understand how to be in a state of opposition with somebody else and still work with them. I understand how to maneuver in a situation where somebody doesn’t agree with how I feel and what I think, necessarily, and we have to work through it together to make sure that we get a job done.”
Of Wolfe, specifically, Colby explained that she appreciates that he gives her “room to be myself.”
“He gives me room to think differently than him at times. And the time and understanding to think about and respect where I’m coming from,” she pointed out. “And not only is that rare in a man, but it’s rare in an employer. It’s oftentimes rare within friendships. And I just think that that’s one of his biggest gifts he’s ever given to me and the production crew.”
To conclude her thoughts on the topic, Colby declared, “He is one of my best friends. I’m one of his best friends. It’s something that can’t die. And that is because we understand how to converse with each other, respect each other’s boundaries, even if they get pushed once in a while because friendships happen that way.”
In the comments, Mike sent a direct message to his longtime friend in response to her touching sentiments.
