Untold Truth Of “Deadliest Catch” Sig Hansen And His Daughter Mandy Hansen

Untold truth of Deadliest Catch: Sig Hansen and his daughter Mandy Hansen.
Mandy Hansen was born in 1996 in Seattle, Washington State, USA, to her mother June, who in 2001 married Sig Hansen, captain of the Northwestern fishing vessel and technical advisor of Discovery Channel’s Deadliest Catch.
Sig adopted both of June’s daughters, Nina and Mandy.
Mandy became skillful in boating, crabbing, and fishing at a young age and subsequently graduated from Washington State University and the Maritime Academy in San Diego, thereby obtaining the paperwork and licenses to run ocean liners and freighters, actually making her more qualified than her father to be a captain.

The Northwestern has been in the Hansen family since it was built by Sig’s father, Sverre Hansen, in 1977 after his first boat sank.
The Northwestern is known for sailing the Bering Sea to catch king and opilio crab.

The Hansens are a tight-knit family, and on June 18, 2017, they happily welcomed Nina’s first child, Jackson, into the family.
Sadly, the Hansens have also experienced hardship, including Sig’s heart attack in 2016 and June’s cancer diagnosis in 2019, followed by ongoing treatment.

As a young girl, Mandy always knew she wanted to join the family business, but her parents were hesitant, as Sig believed fishing was a job best suited for men.
Mandy won her parents over through determination and persistence.
She first appeared as a guest on Deadliest Catch in 2009 at the age of 13 during an “After the Catch” segment.

From age 14, Mandy spent her summers salmon tendering on the Northwestern, working with smaller boats that fished salmon and used the vessel as a fish taxi so they would not have to travel back and forth.
She received many offers as a result of her high-quality work and efficiency.

After graduating from high school, Mandy began working full-time on the ship and became an official cast member on April 22, 2014, as a deckhand on the Northwestern.
After a few seasons, she was promoted to Sig’s right hand, with both the crew and audience recognizing her ability to run the vessel while still showing her feminine side.

Mandy further proved her worth in a male-dominated career when she handled an onboard fire accident calmly and thoroughly.
According to the ship’s website, Mandy is similar to Sig — charismatic, hardworking, and headstrong.

Mandy’s husband, Clark Pedersen, is also a cast member on Deadliest Catch.
He began working at Shaver Transportation Company on the Columbia River as a deckhand and captain-in-training, where the couple met and bonded over harsh sea conditions.
Clark was later hired as a greenhorn on the Northwestern and has been supportive of Mandy’s ambition to one day captain the vessel.

A fan-favorite moment on the show was Clark visiting the Hansen family’s Seattle home to ask Sig for Mandy’s hand in marriage.
After receiving Sig’s approval, Clark asked to speak with Mandy privately, and the two shared an intimate moment on deck before he proposed.

On June 10, 2017, Mandy married Clark in front of the Northwestern at Pacific Fishermen Shipyard in Seattle, surrounded by family, friends, and crew members.
Sig walked Mandy down the ship’s gangway and also served as Clark’s best man.
The couple chose a traditional Norwegian wedding, complete with a kransekake wedding cake and traditional Norwegian clothing, and the ceremony was briefly shown during the season 13 finale.

Sadly, on February 11, 2019, Mandy announced a miscarriage via Instagram.
She shared a photo of a white baby onesie and size-three booties decorated with small crab drawings, revealing that the miscarriage occurred while she was onboard, likely during the filming of season 15.

Edgar Hansen, Mandy’s uncle, once convinced Clark to prank Sig into believing Mandy was pregnant.
According to reports, Sig lost his cool before Clark quickly admitted it was a prank, prompting Sig to jokingly threaten revenge over the ship’s loudspeaker.

Mandy is of white ethnicity, with blonde hair and hazel eyes, and maintains a slim, athletic build due in part to the physical labor required aboard the vessel.
As of mid-2020, Mandy’s estimated net worth exceeds one million dollars, earned through her work on the Northwestern and her appearances on Deadliest Catch.

Sig Hansen, born in 1966, has appeared in every season of Deadliest Catch since 2005.
He developed a passion for fishing at a young age, often skipping school to work on his father’s boat.
Sig became a relief skipper at 22 and captain of the Northwestern in 1990 at the age of 24.

Sig married Lisa Eckstrom in 1987, but the marriage ended after a month, during which they never lived together.
In 1990, Lisa accused Sig of sexually abusing their daughter Melissa, but after investigation, the claims were ruled false.
Sig later chose to stay out of Melissa’s life, believing continued conflict would harm her upbringing.

In 2017, Melissa reopened the case, blaming her father for mental health struggles, which Sig again denied, calling the lawsuit frivolous and extortionary.
In 2018, Sig pleaded guilty to assaulting an Uber driver following a payment dispute, an incident that resulted in property damage to the vehicle.
