The vanilla is good, too. Actually, I do like the vanilla.
Yeah, but most people prefer the lavender.
It seems like the lavender was a big hit. I mean, it was—we launched it at the Missouri Star Quilt Company birthday bash, and that goes along—it went well.
You could use a lot less than that.
Yeah, that’s a lot there.
Hey y’all, welcome to Meet the MC Bees. Today, we’re in here on a weekend. We’ve got Casey and Cole in the studio with me.
We actually have Blair—you can’t see her—she’s off camera sitting over there in her car seat. Hi, Blair.
We’re gonna try and keep this short and sweet because we don’t know how long Blair can handle being in the studio. It’s kind of hot in there. No babysitter today.
So, we’re gonna try and make this podcast short and sweet, but we’ve got a lot of things to talk about.
So, saddle up and let’s get down and dirty with it.
Blair making sounds. All right, y’all.
It’s Saturday. We just finished up our Missouri Star Quilt Company birthday bash. I would say it was a major success. What about y’all?
It was—that was awesome. It was a busy week this week.
It was a very busy week. It was a busy week.
So, we started off—and it’s funny because it seems like people have this—uh—they see us on TV and they think that we have a team working under us that handles all of our stuff, and we just show up and the tent’s set up and the products are all done.
Not quite. Yeah. Nope. Not there yet.
We’re not there yet. I would love to be there one day, but it is us designing the products, making the products, setting up our booth, trade show tent, working the trade show tent, and then also being the front face and getting to meet everyone.
So, it’s a lot of work. It is a lot of work.
Casey, what did you spend this week doing before the birthday bash?
I was busy every day. I think I worked till 7:30.
7:30 every single night. You got your labels in for your new products, which we’re going to talk about today—the night before the birthday bash.
Yeah. So, you and Cole were working in your kitchen—whipping up this—did I say kitchen? Working in your kitchen. Sound like Cole there.
Yeah, come on now. Get it together, bud.
Working in your kitchen, whipping up this—you’ve got four different products here—tallow products.
And it’s not just a simple process. You know beef tallow—what we have here is like the cooking beef tallow. This is just beef fat that’s heated up and then strained to get out the impurities, and so you’re left with this premium quality beef tallow which is made for cooking.
What you’re doing with the skincare line—the baby balm, the face cream, all of that—is called whipped tallow. And what does that process look like?
It’s a lot of work, but basically you render it the same as that—just a lot more times—because I try to get the scent out and all of the impurities.
So I had to render it—I don’t even know—many times for each product. Four different products, and you guys had to go through multiple renderings.
Yeah, I would say at least until the smell was completely gone, and I wanted it to be white—white and pure.
So then you take what is beef tallow, heat it up, render it, put it in the fridge, cool it down after you strain it, and repeat the process.
Then repeat the process multiple times.
Then you take a mixer to whip it up and create that creamy texture that you’re used to seeing with any cosmetic or skincare tallow, whereas this has more of like a candle wax texture that becomes smooth and creamy.
And what are the four products that you have?
So this is the skin balm—it’s like the adult moisturizer—it’s vanilla scented.
Then we have the face cream, which is my favorite.
Wait—no—the baby butter smells the best, don’t you think? Yes.
The one with lavender is my personal favorite fragrance.
But I’m going to start making this skin balm as a lavender option.
The vanilla is good too. Actually, I do like the vanilla.
Yeah, but most people prefer the lavender.
It seems like the lavender was a big hit. We launched it at the Missouri Star Quilt Company birthday bash, and it went well.
You could use a lot less than that.
Yeah, it has a lot there. That’s what a lot of people don’t understand about tallow skincare—how far the jar goes.
That’s only 2 oz or 4 oz, but it’ll last a while because if you used that much on your face, it would be way too greasy.
You literally just put a dab on your fingertip.
So a 2 oz jar is going to last you 45 to 60 days realistically, maybe even longer if you use the right amount.
If you use too much, you’ll get a greasy surface, but if you use the right amount, you get that perfect texture and hydration.
And the 100% grass-fed beef tallow is one of the most natural products you can find. It’s not processed like normal cosmetic lines.
And you mix it with essential oils—100% natural essential oils.
So the skin balm has jojoba oil, vitamin E oil, rosehip oil, marumaru butter, and just a little bit goes a long way.
Hey y’all, if you haven’t had a chance yet to check out our newest sponsor, now is the time because we’re coming up on outerwear season, and that’s what they do best.
Depending on where you are, it may still be hot, and they’ve got great lightweight performance shirts and pearl snaps for that.
And if you’re up north or on the coast, you know that brisk weather is just around the corner.
They’ve got functional layers, vests, denim shirts, jeans, signature coats and jackets—whatever you need. It’s going to fit well, be comfortable, and perform like you expect it to.
This is high-quality apparel from a family-owned western brand.
You look glowing.
Yeah, it’s supposed to help your skin glow. It can improve texture, acne scars, and has skin-tightening ingredients.
And it’s very moisturizing. It’s a good product.
It fits right in line with everything else we’re doing. We launched it at our booth, and now it’s available online as well.
By the time this airs, we’ll have posted it on social media. All four products are available.
We also have cooking beef tallow, which is essentially the same base product—it’s just not refined for skincare.
You could technically use it on your skin, but it has that strong tallow smell.
It’s kind of weird cooking with something you also put on your face.
I did a video where I cooked with it and then put some on my face—because you can.
But I would much prefer the face cream. It looks and smells much better.
If you look at trends in the meat industry over the past year, tallow and collagen are huge.
They’re high-quality, all-natural products, and as people move toward more natural living, tallow has really become a centerpiece.
It’s been a crazy week. We’ve been going nonstop—from the time we wake up to the time we go to bed.
And people think we have a big team, but it’s really just us doing about 98% of everything—from product creation to packaging to selling.
But we’re really excited about this. It’s been a long time coming, and it’s great to finally see it all come together.
We appreciate everyone who supports us. You’re supporting a family operation.
Blair helped too. She was there in the kitchen and at the event.
One of the reasons we created the baby balm was because of her sensitive skin.
It works for things like eczema and diaper rash—it’s more like an ointment than a lotion.
Well, I say we get out of here.
It’s about time. I need a shower—it’s like a sauna in here.
Sorry guys, this one’s short and sweet. We just wanted to get something out.
Next week we’ll have a more formal podcast, but this week has been nonstop.
But again, we appreciate y’all sticking with us and tuning in every week.
It means a lot to us, especially during weeks like this when things get hectic and we’re just trying to keep everything moving.
We’ll be back next week with more updates, more stories, and hopefully a little less chaos in the studio.
