"Josh Harris' Shocking Allegations Lead to His Departure from 'Deadliest Catch'"

We Finally Know Why Josh Harris Was Fired From ‘Deadliest Catch’… And it’s Bad

What Really Happened to Josh Harris? The Real Reason He Disappeared From Deadliest Catch

If you’ve been wondering why Josh Harris has been missing from Deadliest Catch since 2022, you’re not alone. His name recently resurfaced during an online discussion, and that conversation shed new light on why he is no longer part of the series.

Josh Harris — the son of the late Captain Phil Harris of the F/V Cornelia Marie — was a major figure on the show for years. From 2020 to 2022, he served as co-captain of both the Cornelia Marie and the F/V Time Bandit. He also headlined the spin-off series Deadliest Catch: Bloodline, filmed in Hawaii. The spin-off followed Josh, Casey McManus, and Jeff Silva as they investigated old fishing notes left behind by Phil Harris.

Josh’s final appearance on television came in 2022.
Not long afterward, reports began circulating explaining why Discovery had cut ties with him.

Why Discovery Cut Ties With Josh Harris

According to multiple news outlets — including The Sun and Radar Online — Josh Harris was removed from the series after information resurfaced about a 1999 arrest from when he was a minor.
At the time, media reports stated that Harris had been accused of a serious offense involving a child. Because he was underage during the incident, the case proceeded through the juvenile system, and according to those reports, he ultimately pleaded to lesser charges, including immoral communication with a minor.

Following these reports, Discovery released a statement saying:

“We’ve been made aware of this issue. Josh will not appear in future episodes of this series.”

Shortly afterward, Harris was removed from Discovery’s website, and references to Deadliest Catch: Bloodline were also taken down.

Fans React — And Many Say They Were Shocked

This topic resurfaced again on the show’s subreddit when one viewer commented that Josh seemed like the “laziest captain” during Season 14, frequently on his phone and not engaged with his crew.

However, other fans quickly pointed out that the commenter was in for a much bigger surprise, urging them to search for the news that later came to light.

Comments included:

  • “Oh, you don’t know the half of it.”

  • “Google what happened — it’s way worse than being lazy.”

  • “No forgiveness. No coming back from this.”

  • “Makes you feel bad for Jake. He got judged harshly while his brother had darker secrets.”

Many viewers also expressed sympathy for Jake Harris, Josh’s brother, who has had his own struggles publicly documented over the years.

The Fallout

Before the controversy, Josh and Edgar Hansen were considered two of the series’ biggest fan favorites. Now, some viewers say the revelations have changed how they see earlier seasons of the show.

One fan noted:

“I just came back after a year-long break. Josh and Edgar used to be fan favorites… Now they’re remembered for all the wrong reasons.”

As of today, Discovery has made it clear that Josh Harris will not return to the franchise, and all official references to him have been removed.
