Fans Slam ‘American Pickers’ Return Without Frank Fritz: “The Show Has Lost Its Spark”

The History Channel‘s once-beloved series, American Pickers, is back with new episodes—but not everyone is thrilled about it.

Following the latest installment, viewers took to social media to express their frustration and disappointment, labeling the show “boring,” “forced,” and even “unwatchable.” For many, the absence of longtime fan-favorite Frank Fritz, who exited the show in 2021, is the root of the problem.

“It’s Just Not the Same Without Frank”

Frank Fritz wasn’t just a co-host—he was half the heart of American Pickers. His playful chemistry with Mike Wolfe, their back-and-forth banter, and their shared love for all things vintage created a dynamic duo that fans connected with for over a decade.

Now, with Frank gone and Mike joined by his brother Robbie Wolfe and rotating guest pickers, many feel that the magic is missing.

“Without Frank, it’s just not the same. They should have ended the show when he left,” tweeted one disillusioned fan.

Loyalty Can Only Go So Far

Some longtime viewers admitted they tuned in purely out of loyalty—but many didn’t stay for long. Complaints ranged from low energy and stale storytelling to a lack of genuine chemistry between the new cast.

“I watched out of habit,” one viewer wrote on Facebook. “But halfway through, I switched channels. It just felt… flat.”

The criticism wasn’t limited to social media. Critics also pointed to the declining ratings, which have steadily dropped since Frank’s departure. While American Pickers was once a flagship program for the History Channel, it now struggles to capture the same audience numbers it once enjoyed.

A Show at a Crossroads

Despite the backlash, the network has shown no sign of slowing down. Mike Wolfe continues to carry the show, and the format remains largely the same. But fans are demanding change—or, at the very least, a return to the show’s roots: less personal drama, more authentic picking adventures, and the quirky charm that once defined it.

The elephant in the room, of course, is the fractured relationship between Mike and Frank. Their falling out has been widely reported, and while many fans still hold out hope for a reunion, most agree it’s unlikely.

Can American Pickers Be Saved?

Some loyal viewers believe that all is not lost. They argue that with the right tweaks, the series could find a second wind. But it starts with listening to the fans—and many of them are speaking loud and clear.

“Bring back the thrill of the pick. That’s what we came for. Not awkward banter and staged scenes,” one Reddit user wrote.

Whether American Pickers can reinvent itself—or whether it will fade further into obscurity—remains to be seen. But one thing is certain: without Frank Fritz, it’s a different show—and not everyone’s on board.
